Auburn residents encouraged to contact Animal Control during CARE Humane Society shut down

July 18 2024

AUBURN, Ala.- Beginning today, July 18, CARE Humane Society will be unable to accept dogs for a minimum of two weeks. The canines at the shelter are being quarantined due to an outbreak of an unknown upper respiratory illness.

During the closure, Auburn residents in need of assistance with a dog are encouraged to contact Auburn Animal Control at 334-501-3090.

The humane society will continue to allow cat adoptions and intakes, as the feline population has been unaffected by the illness so far. All animals at the shelter are under close observation by the shelter’s veterinary partners.

For more information, contact Animal Control at 334-501-3090.
